Oklahoma 4A Cross Country Final Rankings 2025: Lincoln Christian’s 24-Point Coronation and the Cache Paradox

The final 4A polls of 2025, posted October 6, did something no other class’s poll managed last year: they nailed the top three in both races. Lincoln Christian, Byng, Bridge Creek — in that order, boys and girls, exactly as the state meet would have it three weeks later. Which makes this the least controversial poll of 2025, and therefore the one where the real stories are hiding underneath the correct answers.

Girls: 24 Points and a 25-Second Spread

The 4A girls state meet, October 25 at North Rock Creek in Shawnee, was not a competition. It was a coronation with timing chips. Lincoln Christian 24, Byng 98, Bridge Creek 110, Metro Christian 177, Bethany 178, Pauls Valley 219, Sulphur 222, Kingfisher 227*, Plainview 227*, Ft. Gibson 299, Casady 300, Perkins-Tryon 314, Skiatook 325, Jay 344, Weatherford 368, Mannford 377, Cushing 395, Madill 424. (*Kingfisher won the tiebreak on sixth runner.)

Twenty-four points. Scoring order 2-3-4-6-9, with a 1-5 spread of twenty-five seconds. In a 3.2K race, Lincoln Christian’s fifth runner finished 25 seconds after its first — the entire scoring five crossed within half a minute. That is one of the most suffocating team performances in the 2025 data, any class. Byng’s Ava Thompson won the individual title in 11:47.6 and her team still lost by 74 points. When the other team puts four in the top nine, your champion is a footnote.

Behind the coronation, the poll’s only real wobbles: Kingfisher was ranked 4th and finished 8th; Metro Christian was ranked 5th and finished 4th; Bethany was ranked 9th and finished 5th. Respectable chaos, by 2025 standards.

Boys: The Cache Paradox

The boys’ poll (October 6): 1. Lincoln Christian, 2. Byng, 3. Bridge Creek, 4. Crossings Christian, 5. Perkins-Tryon. The state meet: 1. Lincoln Christian 43, 2. Byng 75, 3. Bridge Creek 130, 4. Cache 186, 5. Crossings Christian 200. Top three, dead on.

And then there’s Cache. The official meet report lists the individual champion as Ethan Jones, Cache, JR, 15:49.6 — confirmed by MileSplit’s elite performances (15:49.57) and The Oklahoman’s finish-line photos. Cache’s team finished fourth with 186 points and a 2:58.2 spread. One hero, no army: scoring order 1-28-31-46-80. Jones beat the runner-up by more than eleven seconds and his own fifth man by nearly three minutes. The poll had Cache 17th, which tells you the poll knew exactly what Cache was — a one-man highlight reel — and still couldn’t decide what to do with it.

A spelling note, because this blog now cross-references everything: the 2025 official meet report says ‘Ethan Jones.’ This fall’s ohstrack.com 4A poll lists the same Cache junior — now the state’s #1-ranked 4A boy at 15:37 — as ‘Etahn Jones.’ Almost certainly the same kid; the poll’s spelling, not mine. Somebody at the keyboard owes Ethan/Etahn an apology.

Elsewhere in the boys’ field: Lone Grove was ranked 16th and finished 8th; Woodward was ranked 19th and finished 15th; Weatherford was ranked 8th and finished 14th. And three ranked teams — North Rock Creek (13th), Mannford (18th), Pauls Valley (20th) — never got a full five to the line. Ranked in October, ghosts in October’s last Saturday.

The Rewind That Predicts the Present

A year of hindsight turns this meet into a preview reel. Caris Tilley (Byng) was 6th at 2025 state in 12:00.7 as a sophomore; this fall she’s #1 in the 4A poll at 11:51. Dylan Lawlor (Cache) was 58th in 18:05.5 as a sophomore; now he’s #3 at 16:16 — a two-and-a-half-minute leap. Tyler Rumble (Cache) went from 17:38.1 as a freshman to 16:48 and #8. Morgan Brown (Sulphur) 16:52.3 to 16:28; Jayden Polk (Purcell) 16:27.7 to 16:25; Keon Lackey (Weatherford) 16:30.3 to 16:33; Landon Luna (Byng) 17:12.7 to 16:52; Jacey McGee (Stilwell) 11:52.0 to 12:01; Jayden Lee (Sulphur) 12:23.6 to 12:04. The 2025 4A state meet didn’t just crown champions — it introduced next year’s rankings.

One more thing the 2025 results explain: Lincoln Christian isn’t in the 2026 4A polls. The school reclassified to 3A this fall, where its boys now sit atop the Week 4 rankings. The 4A throne didn’t fall — it moved classifications.

Final ledger for 2025 4A: two polls that got the top three exactly right, one 24-point masterpiece, one individual champion carrying a fourth-place team, and a tiebreak decided by a sixth runner. October knew what it was talking about this time. Don’t get used to it.
