The 2024 Oklahoma Track Rankings Were Never Missing

For a while, the working theory around here was that Oklahoma simply didn’t do track rankings in 2024. The evidence was damning: rankings exist for 2021, 2022, 2023, 2025 and 2026, but search for the 2024 editions and you get nothing. The directory itself returns a 403. Case closed — the volunteers took a year off, right?
Wrong. All twelve files exist — six classes, boys and girls, every one of them returning a clean 200 as a PDF. The 2024 rankings were there the whole time. They were just hiding in the one place nobody thought to look: plain sight, in a format no machine can read.
Here’s the tell. Crack open the 6A boys file and check its metadata: the internal title is “6a boys 4.7.PNG,” the producer is “Microsoft: Print To PDF,” and it was created April 7, 2024. It’s a screenshot of a spreadsheet, printed to PDF. There is no text layer. Search engines can’t index it. Scrapers can’t parse it. Copy-paste gives you nothing. It’s the digital equivalent of nailing the rankings to a tree in the forest.
To be fair to the volunteer: the work got done. Somebody compiled 6A boys’ marks in early April 2024 and posted them. The failure isn’t the ranking, it’s the publishing — a rankings document that Google can’t find and readers can’t search is a tree falling with nobody around, and the whole point of rankings is the argument they start.
So the mystery is solved, and the lesson is evergreen: before you declare the data missing, check whether it’s just wearing camouflage. The 2024 rankings were never gone. They were screenshots all along.
