Open any past-champions list on ohstrack.com — the 100 meters, the 400, the girls’ team titles — and scroll to the bottom of the modern era. 2021. Then 2019. There is no 2020. It’s not a typo. It’s a hole in the archive where a season used to be.

Fall 2020 cross country happened — we’ve spent weeks rewinding those polls, masks and all. But spring 2020 track didn’t. The seniors of the class of 2020 lost their final season: no last conference meet, no last regional, no last walk to the line at state. For a sport measured in hundredths of a second, an entire spring just… didn’t happen.

There’s no poll to argue about here, no ranking that doesn’t add up, no punchline to force. The archive gap is the whole story, and it doesn’t need a punchline. If you were a senior in the spring of 2020 — if your last race was a time trial in March that nobody recorded — this one’s for you. The record book skipped your year. We didn’t forget it.
